Mouth Cancer or oral cancer is the growth of cancer cells in the mouth that can appear anywhere in the mouth. For example, mouth cancer is most likely to appear on the lips, tongue, cheeks, and the floor the mouth, however, it can appear at the pharynx (throat), sinuses, and hard and soft palate(roof of the mouth). Mouth Cancer occurs when the cells in the mouth or on the lips develop changes in their DNA. DNA of a cell instructs the cell on what to do. The change (mutation) tells the cell to continue to grow and divide when the healthy cells die. The simultaneous growth of abnormal mouth cancer cells or the mutation in the mouth can lead to forming a tumor. It is observed that with time it can spread from mouth to other parts of the body.
